Answers to frequently asked questions about dispensing systems from axiss – covering technology, applications, process reliability, quality, and documentation. FAQ - Dosiermaschine Technology & Application Process Reliability & Quality How does axiss develop the right dispensing solution for each application? Every project at axiss starts with the customer’s component – its characteristics, requirements, and the desired level of process reliability. Based on this, we define the working area, process steps, and possible integrations such as plasma, UV light, pre-treatment, or curing. The dispensing valve is then selected according to the dispensing material and cartridge size – regardless of whether the customer ultimately chooses a fully automated system, a manual setup, or only the valve itself. How is the integration of a dispensing machine into an existing production line carried out? Integration takes place via mechanical mounting interfaces and electrical connections such as PLC, fieldbus, or Ethernet. Optional integration into the safety circuit of the production line, as well as communication with MES or ERP systems, is also possible. We support our customers during planning, interface definition, and commissioning to ensure that each dispensing machine is perfectly integrated into the existing production process. How are different dispensing heads or materials implemented in more complex applications? For applications involving multiple materials, the dispensing head can be quickly exchanged via a change system on the Z-axis. In the control software, parameters for each dispensing head can be selected automatically. This ensures a safe and consistent process when switching between different dispensing heads. How are multi-axis systems (e.g. 4-axis setups) programmed for complex dispensing paths? Programming is carried out using teach-in and interpolation within the control software. How fast and accurate do the dispensing systems operate? Cycle time depends on the material, dispensing volume, and axis speeds – from just a few seconds to several minutes per part, depending on the application. Automatic height measurement and camera-based process monitoring ensure that the dispensing distance remains constant and any positional deviations are detected immediately. What interfaces and software features are available? Our control systems support all common industrial interfaces such as Ethernet, Profinet, EtherCAT, digital I/Os, and OPC-UA. The software provides powerful tools for data logging and process management – including dispensing volumes, batch IDs, and test reports. Dispensing programs for different part variants can be stored, managed, and switched quickly. Gear Pump - The 2K gear pump consists of two separate gear pumps for Component A and B, ensuring a precise and constant dosing process. The mixing ratio is determined by the volume per revolution: 1:1 mixture → Both pumps dispense 0.6 ml per revolution. 2:1 mixture → One pump dispenses 0.6 ml, while the other dispenses 0.3 ml per revolution. Optimise your dispensing system with our shut-off valve and mixing tube heater. Effectively prevent dripping of 2K material and ensure accurate dosing with constant viscosity. Shut-off valve To achieve a clean shut-off at the dosing end and to ensure reliable dosing regardless of ambient temperature, we have developed the shut-off valve and mixer heater. These solutions enable accurate and cost effective dispensing while ensuring material viscosity remains constant in different environments. Mixer heater 4385 Shut-off valve Prevents dripping of 2K material in the mixing tube after dosing In cases of low- to medium-viscosity and non-thixotropic media, simply retracting the pistons is often not sufficient to prevent dripping. This is where our shut-off valve comes into play. It seals the outlet of the mixing tube using a small shut-off tap, ensuring a clean dispensing process without unwanted dripping. The shut-off tap is controlled by a compact digital servo motor and automatically closes the mixing tube outlet as soon as dispensing is complete. Control is managed either via the Dispensmove dispensing machine or the 4480 control unit. Since the shut-off tap is a consumable part, it is integrated into the shut-off valve and replaced together with the mixing tube.
